“My background as a goldsmith is also visible in the rest of my work, even if I design a large cabinet. Not only in the way I construct, but also in the details.”

Carolina’s work has clear influences from art and architectural history

Carolina Wilcke likes to explore the boundary between art and design. The Dutch designer (1980) graduated from the Design Academy Eindhoven in 2009. Since this time her work has been exhibited in museums and galleries around the world. Carolina’s work has clear influences from art and architectural history, like the play of light in 17th century paintings, but her background as a goldsmith also plays a role in her refined approach to design. She combines and constructs with various components to create more than a sum of parts and is fascinated by the endless search for perfect proportions. Carolina’s designs can be found in many collections, including Spectrum and Pols Potten.
